Humans have felt an irresistible impulse to paint from the very moment they appeared on the earth. It has been their great passion to describe the world around them, even to give a new meaning to it. With the changing world, the effects of science, beliefs, political aspects, and wars on humans have led to new movements and styles in art. Artists, finding the equivalent of these effects in their mind, have depicted the world around them. As they lived in cities or countryside, they observed, examined and pictured the world around them, using various mediums. The overall structure of this thesis is based on buildings, or rather upper parts of buildings, rooftops, and the sky.
