Mimari Karakterli İnşai Seramik Çalışmalar
Özet
Whether used to make a piece of art or an ordinary object, ceramic in its purest form finds life through the marriage of clay and fire, and transforms into something entirely different from earth. Its existence alone emits various immaterial messages.
Similar to architecture, one of the oldest form-finding activities of humankind, ceramic art has been at the service of human creation for centuries. Over time, it has been used to transmit different messages. Sometimes it serves as a high quality material for producing cult objects, cookware, mudbricks or technology; while at other times it serves as a valuable material for art. We most often come into contact with the superior and infinite qualities of ceramic when we see it used as flooring material inside buildings, as decorative panels in interior spaces, or as colourful mosaics adorning a fireplace. Indeed, ceramic has always been used in architecture with a rich repertoire.
The tectonic (structural, constructional) codes that architecture and ceramics include in their arche (origin, beginning) suggest that the two are based on similar expressionist principles. Therefore, the present study does not strive to see ceramic as a structural material, but focuses on the interpretations of architectonic styles in ceramic art. The positive outcome of the study is the experience of plastic sensitivities created by elements with an architectural character when constructing with ceramic units.
