Tecavüze Maruz Bırakılan Kadınların Tecavüz Sonrası Yaşam Deneyimleri

Abstract

I conducted this study to reveal the experiences of women who exposed to rape. In this study; I tried to elucidate how women interpretate the rape, the effect of rape on the self and interpersonal relationships, experiences of women in organizations after rape, strategies to cope with their problems and experiences of empowerment. I did research with feminist methodology. My research subjects consisted of 28 women aged 18 years and over who were exposed to rape from 8 different provinces of Turkey. I conducted in-depth interviews with these women through a semi-structured form. I analyzed the data with feminist thematic analysis with the help of MAXQDA 12 Analytics Pro software. As a result, three main themes emerged that I named if women start talking about rape, the rape's attack on women's life and the arts of female resistance. According to the results of the research; in patriarchal order, women were subjected to actual and public rape and placed in an obedient position. The self-imposed order's predispositions for women were internalized by women. Women's secondary positions, along with the negative effects of themselves and their lives, became constant. Symbolic violence perpetrated by members of the patriarchal society deepened the devastating effects of rape trauma. This should be read as a sign of the needs of personal, interpersonal and political empowerment; developing and providing feminist oriented services; questioning social positions occupied by men and women; establishing a fair and equitable order etc. It was important how to create transformation in accordance with the requirements in question should be looked at. This study provided an insight into the life of women who were exposed to rape, and provided a transformative feature that met this need significantly.
