Retinoblastomda T Regulatuar Hücre İnfiltrasyonunun Klinik ve Histopatolojik Bulgular Üzerine Etkile
Özet
The role of T regulatory cells in immune escape mechanisms of tumor appears to be important, but the presence of T regulatory cells in tumor microenvironment in retinoblastoma has not been evaluated. In this study the aim is to evalute the relationship between T regulatory cell infiltration of the tumor and clinical, histopathological findings in retinoblastoma. A retrospective analysis of the medical records of 64 eyes of 62 patients who underwent enucleation for retinoblastoma and histopathologic review of all specimens were performed. Demographic and clinical information included age at time time of presentation and operation, gender, laterality and metastasis. Histologic examination included differentation of the tumor, size of the tumor, presence of necrosis, presence of high risk pathologic factors and presence of CD3, CD4, CD25, FOXP3 expressing cells. Increased expression of CD3 (p=0.02) and FOXP3 (p=0.022) was noted for the tumors with high risk pathologic factors. The same relationship was observed between T regulatory cells and the tumor with high risk pathologic factors (p=0.041). Interactions between the immnune system and tumor cells play an important role in tumorigenesis. Retinoblastoma use multiple mechanism to escape from immunity and this study shows that immunosupression via T regulatory cells may be one of this mechanism.
