Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Yönetimsel Problem Çözme ve Karar Verme Becerilerinin Geliştirilmesinde Senaryo Temelli Simülasyon Yönteminin Etkisi
Özet
This research was carried out as a quasi-experimental and qualitative study in
order to determine the effect of scenario-based simulation method on the level of
managerial problem solving and decision making skills of senior year nursing
students. The sample of the study consisted of 91 students enrolled in HEM 422
Nursing Services Administration at Hacettepe University Nursing Faculty in 2016-
2017 Academic Year Spring Semester. In the research, students in intervention group
1 did case study, intervention group 2 students did scenario based simulation and
control group students did their training classical teaching method. “Introductory
Information Form”, “Problem Solving Inventory”, “Clinical Decision Making in
Nursing Scale” and “Pre-Post Information Test” were used as data collection tools.
Shapiro Wilk, One Way Anova and paired sample t test were used for the statistical
analysis of data. According to the study results, post information test mean scores of
the students in the intervention group 2 were significantly higher than the pre-test
mean scores (p <0.05). When three teaching methods were compared, it was
determined that there was no difference between the methods in gaining the
managerial problem solving and decision making skills. In the focus group
interviews, students expressed that they were very pleased with the scenario-based
simulation method, that the theory was transformed into practice, that it strengthened
learning, and they expressed an opinion about the integration of scenario-based
simulation into management courses. Based on the results of the research, using case
study and scenario based simulation in nursing management courses are suggested.
