Matematik Öğretmenliği İle Matematik Bölümü Programlarının Karşılaştırılması Ve Yeterlilikler Çerçevesinde Öğrenci Görüşleri

The aim of this study is to compare Mathematics Teacher Training Programs (4 years) and Bachelor of Mathematics Programs. In Turkey, there are 13 universities having Faculty of Education that grows Mathematics teachers, and there are 79 universities having departments of Mathematics. The sample of this study is limited to the curricula of 10 universities having both the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Sciences. The data of the study were collected through the questionnaires which were developed to be applied to mathematics teaching and mathematics department of these 10 universities and to the 3rd and 4th year students of 2 universities in Ankara. Questionnaires have been prepared based on the Framework of Higher Education Proficiency prepared by Higher Education Institution. The results show that the departments training Mathematics teachers follow a different curriculum. The differences are seen in graduation requirements such as ECTS credits and total amount of course hours and to the targeted qualifications. Likewise, curricula of elementary school mathematics teaching were compared and found to be the same in each university. In this study, it is considered that the departmental curricula ought to have a standard and consistency; thus, the research results about the differences between Mathematics Teacher Education Programs at the Faculty of Education and Bachelor of Mathematics Programs at the Faculty of Sciences have been introduced. In addition, the joint draft program prepared by HEI for the 2018-2019 academic year has been examined and the findings have been analyzed and added to the study.
