Kayıran, B., A Study on Web Sites of Drug Companies in Turkey, Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Master Thesis in Pharmacy Management and Legislation. Ankara, 2018. The Internet, which has been in use since 1991, continues to provide information to a growing number of users around the world on a variety of topics. In particular, the use of the Internet to search for information on health issues is quite common. In this thesis study, web sites of Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (AİFD) and Pharmaceutical Manufacturters Association of Turkey (İEİS) members were scanned for adherence to the website criteria of the above NGOs. 17 common criteria identified by both NGOs were searched. In addition, 5 additional criteria for AİFD and 2 additional criteria for İEİS were analysed. The study results are tabulated, evaluated and compared with the studies in which the same criteria were applied as in previous years. Statistical data were obtained by using the SPSS ver 24.0 program. When the total adaptations of the two institutions are compared, it has been observed that the adherence rate increased from 54.62 % in 2004 to 60.78% in 2011 and then 61.38% in 2018. But according to the results of the year 2018, the increase in the results of year 2011 is statistically unsignificant (p>0.05). The prominence of this study is that the use of 45% of the internet in 2011 has risen to 66.8% in 2018 (4,36). In spite of this fact the adherence rate of the web sites to the composed criteria of AIFD’s and IEIS’s has not changed significantly which is also a sign of the legislation’s not being improved sufficiently. However, both the legal aspect and the sanctions of the associations in terms of sanctions resulting in an application incompleteness. As an outcome it has been considered that legal obligation should be developed to reach the results those can be promising by setting criteria which will be formed by unbiased and autonomous health authorities.
