The actions of the individuals within the organizations and the causes of the emergence of these actions are evaluated within a scientific framework within the concept of organizational behavior. The concepts of workplace friendship and work engagement are included within the scope of the concepts that try to put forward the ideas that will affect the actions of the individuals in the organization positively. Workplace friendship is expressed as non-formal interactions about man in the workplace. Commitment to work requires employees to fulfill their entire business role in physical, cognitive, and emotional sense. The purpose of the study is to examine the significance of the relationship between health professionals' workplace friendship perceptions and work engagement levels. For this purpose, 300 health personnel working in Hacettepe University Adult Hospital participated in the research in Ankara. The Workplace Friendship Scale and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale were used to collect the data. Independent samples t-Test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used in the analysis of the data.
As a result of the research, it has been revealed that there is a moderate relation between the workplace friendship perceived by the health personnel and the work engagement level. According to findings, it was determined that the level of workplace friendship perceived by the health personnel does not differ depending on gender, age, marital status, education level, occupation and income while it differ depending on the department. According to findings, it was determined that the level of work engagement of healthcare personnel does not differ depending on gender and age while it differ depending on marital status, educational status, occupation, department and income.
