The purpose of this randomized controlled study was to define the effects of massage on the patients undergoing allogenic peripheral stem cell and have granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) related bone pain. The research was performed in Hacettepe University Oncology Hospital Bone Marrow Transplantaion Service between 30th November 2016- 7 December 2017. “The Personal Information Form”, “The Visual Analog Scale” and “The G-CSF Related Pain Monitoring Chart” were used to collect data. The research sample consisted of 56 patients including 28 intervention and 28 control. The Personal Information Form was inked out by the researcher both intervention and control group. The pain seventy of the patients in both groups was evaluated by VAS, from the starting day of G-CSF to the end of the treatment at 12 o’clock when G-CSF doses were completed. If no pain was detected in VAS evaluation, no other pain evaluation was done for that day. The patients in intervention group were conducted massage implementation after the evaluation of pain by VAS at 12 o’clock on the days their pain grade was 1-6, and right after the implementation (at 12:15) and half an hour later (12:45) two more VAS evaluations were conducted. So, totally three pain evaluations were done, one was right before the intervention (at 12 o’clock) and two (at 12:15 and 12:45) after the presence of the pain by VAS. The pain of patients in the control group was evaluated at the same times. In the intervention group, the first measured VAS scores were statistically significanthigher than the second and third VAS scores (p<0,001). Similarly, the second measured rates were considerably higher than the third measured scores. It was concluded that massage decreases the pain severity on the patients have been undergone allogenic peripheral stem cell and have granulocyte-colony stimulating factor related bone pain. According to this result, massage is recommended for the patients who suffer from bone pain.
