ABSTRACT
BUDAK, Zekiye. “Image in the Relation between Sight and Place”, Report for Post Graduate Art Study, Ankara, 2018.
How our life, which is surrounded by sights, takes an artistic form in the world of an artist is discussed in the art study titled as “Image in the Relation between Sight and Place”.
The fact that sight creates a new form of viewing and a new perception together with the developing technology, and what kind of an influence these new forms of view create on the history of art are researched. Especially the fact that the movement of Cubism, which emerged in the 20th century, recombines objects after breaking them into pieces has brought a new point of view in art, and has started a new era in art in terms of reality and perception. From then on, artists have started to form their work of art by reshaping what is seen instead of creating an exact copy, and thus, visible reality has turned into a new reality for the artist.
The change of sights together with the development of technology has brought along the change of art perception, too. While images were transferred onto the walls of caves in the early ages, they have started to be transferred onto other surfaces (television, photographs, videos, etc.) thanks to technology. This has brought up a new concept in perception, and caused the relationship between sight, place, image and reality to be questioned.
