MS Hastalarının Yaşam Kalitesi: Karşılaştıkları Güçlükler ve Hak Kayıplarına İlişkin Bir Değerlendirme

In this study, the difficulties faced by MS patients after diagnosis and the relationship between their rights losses and their quality of life were examined. In accordance with this purpose; the relationship between some of the variables of MS patients such as socio-demographic, disease characteristics, faced social, economic and psychological challenges, expectations and rights losses and the obtained scores from the quality of life scale has been investigated.
The study includes 70 patients who applied to Hacettepe University Adult Hospital Department of Neurology Polyclinic either for treatment or control between dates of 01.03-15.05.2016. Quality of life scores have been obtained from The MSQOL-54 quality of life scale developed by Vickrey, socio-demographic characteristics of patients, faced challenges, expectations and rights losses have been obtained via "Patient Interview Form". Gathered data in the survey has been transferred to the computer via SPSS 23.0 package program and analyzed using Pearson, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests.
In the examination of the relationship between socio-demographic, disease characteristics and quality of life scores no statistically significant difference has been found in general, but it is found that the differences between the means occur. When the correlations between the total number of problems patients experienced in psychological, economic and social areas and the scores obtained from the quality of life scale was examined, it is found that there was not a statistically significant relationship however a negative relationship has been found. The difference between the groups was found to be significant in terms of BFS and BMS scores when assessed for rights losses. Regarding the findings, when assessed from a Rights based perspective the procedure brought the necessity of the provision of rights to MS patients for the resolution of relevant issues into the view
