Road tunes have a musical culture that contributes to the enrichment of Turkish musical culture. According to the information obtained about the highland tradition, which is the origin of these tunes, it is shown that the highland life performance and road tunes are an inseparable whole. The Black Sea region is a region suitable for highland activities due to both climate and geographical conditions. Especially the settlements in the provinces of Giresun, Ordu, Trabzon and Rize are affected by the highland tradition and bring road tunes with them. In the literature review conducted for the study, written, verbal and visual sources related to road, journey and road tunes were scanned; the historical transmission process of road tunes in musical/modal, instrumental and cultural terms was determined with the observation, interview and compilation methods formed by the image, sound recordings and field researches of the source person, local artist, performers who sing road tunes in electronic environment. This study titled “Road Tunes in Turkish Music Culture” prepared with the aim of evaluating the road tunes performed in the Black Sea region and the cultural connection of these tunes within the framework of folklore theories consists of an introduction and 4 sections. In the introduction section, the purpose, subject, method and studies related to the subject are mentioned. In the first section, definitions and characteristics of road tunes are given, in the second section, musical/modal analyses of road tunes are examined under 16 headings, and stories of verbal works in Giresun, Ordu and Rize regions are also given. In the third section, the instrumental history of road tunes is conveyed, in the fourth section, information about folk dances and horon tradition in the Eastern Black Sea Region, information about the biographies of well-known performers and resource persons in the region are tried to be presented.
