language of expression emerged, and new possibilities for artistic expression began to
develop. This process continues to accelerate today, and as technology advances, artworks
are being shaped by new languages of expression.
In the 1970s and 1980s, trends toward differentiation in the use of materials and conceptual
approaches in art triggered the emergence of a multidisciplinary understanding of art. This
approach recognized technology not just as a tool, but as a fundamental element that
determines the possibilities of the artwork. Concepts such as digital art, internet art, and
software art have accelerated the transformation of art in the 20th century, with technology
playing an increasingly important role in the creation of artworks.
Interdisciplinarity allows art to transcend aesthetic values and gain social, cultural, and
psychological meanings. In the competitive environment of capitalism, the new
possibilities offered by technology diversify art production processes, and each new
technological product brings with it the necessary knowledge base to use it. This situation
necessitates that the artist incorporates the knowledge and expertise of different disciplines
in addition to traditional art production tools. In the technologically innovative and
capitalist environment of the 21st century, collaborations between art and engineering are
fundamentally changing art production practices.
