OECD’de Kadın İşsizliği: Ekonomik Konjonktür ve Vergi Takozu Etkileri Üzerine Ampirik Bir İnceleme
Özet
The sustainable development model is a multifaceted model that includes economic, social and environmental factors. Equality between men and women, which is one of the sub-parameters of the concept of sustainability based on social concerns, is of critical importance for countries. Crises, which are described as the bottom point of economic conjuncture cycles, are generally responded to by states with the aim of reaching solutions for the production process. This focus may cause the gender factor in unemployment to be secondary to its relationship with cyclical fluctuations. Countries that want to be among the strong economies must make women an active element of their labor markets. In the study, female unemployment will be the focus and its relationship with cyclical movements will be examined. By carrying out the study in this direction, it is aimed to shed light on this area, which is not emphasized enough, by evaluating the different effects of the contraction and expansion periods observed in the economic structure on a gender basis. Within the scope of the study, the effects of economic conjuncture movements on female and male unemployment will be analyzed using fixed effects analysis between 2000 and 2022 in 36 OECD countries. In addition, by including changes in the tax wedge in the analysis, the different effects of gender-based labor force dynamics in expansion and contraction periods within the cyclical structure will be observed.
