Erişkin Kistik Fibrozisli Hastalarda ve Sağlıklı Bireylerde Egzersiz Kapasitesi, Arteryel Sertlik ve Bilişsel Fonksiyonların Karşılaştırılması
Özet
Exercise capacity, muscle strength, cognitive function, and arterial stiffness may be affected in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF). This study aimed to compare respiratory function, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, exercise capacity, exercise muscle oxygenation, arterial stiffness, anxiety, depression, cognitive function, sleep quality, and quality of life in adults with CF and healthy individuals and to investigate the relationship between the parameters in adults with CF. Twenty-four adults with CF and 22 healthy individuals participated in this study. Pulmonary function, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, exercise capacity (six-minute walk test, 6MWT), muscle oxygenation (SmO2, total hemoglobin), arterial stiffness, anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), cognitive function (Mini-Mental State Examination, MMSE, and Montreal Cognitive Assessment Test, MoCA), physical activity, sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) and quality of life (Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire-Revised and Nottingham Health Profile, NHP) were evaluated. Pulmonary function, quadriceps muscle strength, 6MWT distance, SmO2 values, MoCA, and MMDT scores were significantly lower in adults with CF than healthy individuals (p<0.05). The augmentation index and NHP physical mobility score of adults with CF were significantly higher than healthy individuals (p<0.05). AIx@75 was significantly related to recovery SmO2 and quality of life, and there was a significant correlation between pulmonary function and quality of life in adults with CF (p<0.05). In adults with CF, arterial stiffness, cognitive function, exercise capacity, and muscle oxygenation are impaired. Arterial stiffness may be a determining factor in low muscle oxygenation in recovery. Muscle oxygenation, cognitive function, and arterial stiffness should be considered when determining the pulmonary rehabilitation program.
