Yabancı Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğretiminde Kullanılan Hikâye Kitaplarının İncelenmesi

This master's thesis examines the Anadolu Hikâyeleri series and the Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri series, two sets of supplementary reading books for learners of Turkish as a foreign language. Published by the Yunus Emre Institute, which teaches Turkish around the world and aims to promote Turkish culture, these two story series were analyzed in five categories: topic, grammar, visuals, activities, and activity instructions. Using a qualitative research design, the study collected data from the books through document analysis. Based on the data obtained through document analysis, a supplementary reading book review scale was developed and evaluated through content analysis. The theoretical framework first discusses the importance of reading skills in foreign language learning and the importance of understanding what is read. Subsequently, the importance of graded supplementary reading books in foreign language learning is emphasized, particularly in the context of the extensive reading model. In the findings section, each book in the respective story series is examined separately within the aforementioned categories. The conclusion summarizes and discusses the findings of the study and offers some recommendations. The study is believed to contribute to the field of evaluating supplementary reading books.
