İngilizce Dersi Öğretim Programında Yer Alan Değerlerin İlkokul Kitaplarına Yansıması
Özet
Value is an important guide for individuals to make sense of life. Values need to be taught
to students at an early age in environments such as family, school and social
environment. In recent years, the place of values in education has gained importance and
their presence in textbooks, which are an indispensable tool of education, arouses great
curiosity. It is believed that values should be transferred to children from an early age,
especially in language education. This study examines the reflection of the values in the
English language curriculum on primary school English textbooks. The study basically
consists of five chapters. The first part of the study is the introduction, and in this part, the
purpose of the study, problem situation, assumptions and limitations are discussed. In the
second chapter, the theoretical foundations of the research are included and the concept
of value is discussed and presented. In the third section, it was gathered under the title of
method and was discussed with document analysis, one of the qualitative methods for
research, and frequency tables were created to determine to what extent the values were
reflected. The result of the examination shows that the values specified in the English
course curriculum are partially reflected in primary school books. It has been determined
that some values are processed more clearly, but some are not included at a sufficient
level. In the fourth chapter, the time planning of the thesis study is given. What kind of
progress will be made on which dates is planned and presented. In the fifth chapter, which
is the last chapter, the results obtained as a result of qualitative research are included.
These data show that primary school English textbooks mostly include friendship, love,
respect and helpfulness. The least mentioned values are justice and patriotism. As a
result, it has been suggested that the values should be included homogeneously in the
themes, as these values can contribute positively to the character development of
students.
