Throughout history, human beings have needed shelter and protection against external
factors. For this reason, primitive architectural examples from the past; structures such as
caves, tree hollows, tents have constantly developed and renewed and have changed
according to the needs of the society. Ecological, social, individual and technological
influences have accelerated this change. Especially thanks to the Industrial Revolution, the
concept of space, like the discipline of architecture, has been interpreted from many
different perspectives and for different functions. The concept of space has diversified due to
the increasing population and changing needs; the concept of mobile space has emerged
and has continued and developed until today. In line with the housing problem and the
progress of housing forms, maximum function in limited spaces has been emphasized as a
solution to the search for a qualified interior space and life form.
As a result of excessive and rapid consumption of natural resources; energy conservation is
a mandatory situation today. The housing sector, which is our basic living unit, has a large
share in energy consumption. However, compared to permanent dwellings; mobile
structures consume less energy during the pre- construction, construction, use-consumption
and transformation stages. It is possible to reduce the amount of energy consumed by the
building during use with various techniques and equipment.
In this study; saving methods of electrical energy on lighting, one of the elements that
make up the space, are discussed and examined through examples. Energy saving in
lighting should be done by providing visual comfort conditions without reducing the
quality of lighting. Since good lighting will be provided with more efficient lighting
devices; it is possible to realize the same level of illumination with minimum energy
consumption. The issues required for correct, efficient, energy- efficient lighting have been
mentioned and the points to be considered for energy saving have been determined.
The aim of this study is to make it possible to design the interiors of mobile buildings as
iv
energy efficient structures that have minimum impact on the environment, are suitable for
climatic and spatial data, use renewable energy sources, allow flexible use, and to raise
awareness of designers on this issue. To investigate the changes that mobile buildings have
undergone in the historical development process and their use today, how they can be
applied more energy efficient, and to examine and document examples on the subject.
Within the scope of the study, six mobile space structures belonging to six different
domestic and international companies were examined. The reason for different mobile
venue choices from different countries; It is essential to see how various cultures and
geographies provide energy production and consumption in mobile structures and to
compare these structures. Examples include space type and mobility; It varies according to
the user's wishes and requirements. The dependence of buildings on energy and its solutions
have been analyzed. In the process of the thesis study, qualitative research method was
followed, literature review was made on the subject; visual, written and electronic sources
were utilized.
