ÇETİK F, Investigation of the Relationship of Metacognitions with
Psychological Resilience and Mindfulness of Individuals in Cancer Process,
Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences, Psychiatric Nursing
Master Programme, MSc Thesis, Ankara, 2023. This research was conducted
using the correlation seeking research design to investigate the relationship between
metacognitions, psychological resilience and mindfulness of individuals in the
cancer process. The research was concluded with 164 volunteer individuals with
cancer who are members of the Kansersiz Yaşam Derneği or who are undergoing
active cancer treatment in Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Oncology Hospital. Data were
collected through an online survey using Googleforms between the 2nd of July 2021
and the 1st of May 2022. The descriptive data form, Metacognition- 30 Scale,
Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and Mindfulness Scale were used as data
collection tools. For data analysis, frequency tests, pearson correlation and simple
linear regression analysis were used. Based on the research results, there was no
statistically significant relationship between metacognition scale scores and
resilience scale scores (r=-0.093; p=0,235). On the other hand, significant ranges
were determined between the performance and sub-dimensions of metacognitions
and the psychological resilience performance sub-dimensions (p<0.05). There are
significant, moderate and negative relationships between the participants'
Metacognition Scale scores and the Mindfulness Scale total scores (r=-0.314;
p<0.001). These results may suggest that interventions aimed at increasing
functional metacognitions at home should be included in interventions aimed at
supporting functional metacognitions in care, in order to maintain sustainability in
this process of experiencing the cancer process, and that psychological resilience,
which has a relationship with its sub-dimensions and metacognitions, should be
included in the planning, although there is no direct relationship between this filling
and metacognitions. In addition, qualitative and quantitative studies need to be
conducted to evaluate in more detail the relationship between individuals'
metacognition, psychological resilience, and mindfulness during the cancer process.
