Ertürk, A., Development of Prosody Perception Assessment Scale in Turkish, Hacettepe University Graduate School Health Sciences Audiology Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology Doctor of Philosophy Thesis, Ankara, 2023. The goal of this study was to develop the Turkish Prosody Perception Test, evaluate its reliability, and investigate the effects of gender and music or acting education on test scores. The created scale comprises the A.Accent, B.Pause, and C.Tone assessments, as well as related subtests. The overall number of items in the test is 202, with 45 practical items and 157 test items. The pilot study included 32 (17 female) participants mean aged 20,59, ±1,27. The application with the final test includes 70 (35 female) participants between the ages of 18 and 49 (31,7, ±7,18). Content validity was established by obtaining expert opinions, yielding a content validity index score of 0,88. Cronbach's alpha analysis was used to evaluate the construct validity, and it was observed that when evaluating the measuring tool's reliability, values of 0,70 and above, which is an acceptable degree of internal consistency, were achieved in general. For test-retest reliability, 10 pilot study participants were re-tested 6 months later, and a significant correlation was found between the initial and subsequent results (p<0,05). A gender and music education group difference is being investigated to assess the test's discriminant validity. There was no effect when gender differences were studied. The Accent A1. Two Syllables subtest, Accent overall test score, and Prosody general test scores were found to differ between groups with and without musical education. Throughout the test, no floor (1%) or ceiling (1%) effects were found. In conclusion, the Turkish Prosody Perception Test was proven to be a viable and reliable tool for evaluating prosody perception. Furthermore, it is valuable as a study that sheds light on the impact of music/acting education and gender on prosody perception.
