Collection of Eastern Turki manuscripts at Lund University Library, Sweden.
The first part of the thesis provides an introduction followed by general information
about the research topic and purpose. The introductory section is followed by three

The first chapter covers the history of Eastern Turkestan, Chagatay and New Uyghur,
the Swedish missionaries who brought the Hurliḳa-Hemrah Epic and many other

to Turkology
The second chapter presents information about the epic. In this chapter the spelling and
linguistic features of the text are shown, and the phonetic and morphological features of
the manuscript text are compared with modern Uyghur language and its dialects.
The final chapter provides a standard translation of the epic. The simple and conjugated
forms of the words occurring in the text are shown in the index section, along with their
semantic characteristics.
