The concept of building biology, which emerged as an idea in the late 1960s, continues to
exist as a field of science nowadays. It aims to design healthy buildings and interiors for the
well-being of the relationship between human, environment and building. Building biology
advocates the use of natural building materials and passive systems. However, considering
the climate factor in the design of buildings and interiors, it cannot be expected that these
uses alone will be one hundred per cent effective. Depending on the data of the climate zone
where the building is located, the use of active systems is also in order to provide thermal
comfort.
The use of active systems should be at the highest level and should be obtained from
renewable energy sources. Building and interior designs should minimise the factors that can
harm the environment and people in every aspect, use energy efficiently, be healthy and have
the highest level of comfort. In this context, in the last part of the thesis, Kadıovacık Bio
House was chosen as the subject of study. The location and climatic data of the building,
interior layout, foundation and carrier system of the building, interior floor coverings, wall
applications according to facade differences, roof applications, natural and artificial lighting
indoors, passive and active air conditioning systems, water supply and interview questions
with the user of the building were examined under these headings.
