Analysis and Modeling of A Naturally Fragmenting Warhead

Abstract

A naturally fragmenting 81mm mortar round's effectiveness was investigated. During this investigation sustainable new methods were tried. The fragmentation of the round by explosives were examined by tests, modelled theoretically and supported with numerical analysis. In the end models were found on the interaction of the shell with the explosive within and a table was made used in the effectiveness index of the munition. At the end the table was compared with real world test results for consistency.
