Biyoloji Öğretmen Adaylarının Yakın Çevrelerindeki Ağaçları Tanıma Düzeyleri: Ankara İli Örneği

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the level of awareness of the trees in the environment of the students who are studying at Hacettepe and Gazi Universities Biology Education Department. The sample of the research is composed of 168 (155 female, 13 male) students studying at Biology Education Department in Hacettepe and Gazi Universities in 2015-2016 education year. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques were used in the study. In order to collect the data, the given Tree Diagnostic Test was developed by taking the opinions of the experts in the field of tree species that the students will encounter the most in their surroundings. In addition, these tests were conducted with a questionnaire consisting of two open-ended questions with the aim of supporting and explaining the data. Qualitative data obtained with the study were analyzed with the MAXQDA Program and quantitative data with the SPSS 23 Packet Program. According to the result obtained in the two-part measurement means, The result was that the level of recognition of many of the trees in the environment of the students studying in Biology Education Department was low. It was determined that the recognition levels of the trees in the pine species were higher than the others in the trees given to the students in the Tree Identification Test given by the students. However, according to the findings obtained without research; It has become clear that students are not at the expected level of recognizing the trees in their surroundings.
