Toplum Ruh Sağlığı Merkezinde ve Poliklinikte İzlenen Şizofreni Hastalarının Aile Desteği Algıları ile Yakınlarının Duygu Dışavurumu ve Depresyon Düzeylerinin Belirlenmesi
Özet
The purpose of this descriptive and comparative study is to determine family support of patients with schizophrenia monitored in community mental health services and psychiatric outpatient clinics and expressed emotion and depression levels of their caregivers. The study was conducted in four Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC), a universtiy hospital and a training and research hospital psychiatric outpatient clinics in Ankara city centrum on January 04 - December 05, 2016. This study was performed on totally 176 patients and their caregivers assigned to CMHC (n=88) and psychiatric outpatient clinic (n=88) groups. Patient and caregiver characteristics were recorded by forms. For the patients in CMHC and outpatient clinic groups; Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) and for their caregivers Expressed Emotion Scale (EES) and Beck Depression Scale (BDS) were applied. Due to non-normally distributed data, scale score medians and non-parametric statistical tests (Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, chi-square test) were used. The results revealed that PSSS score median of patients who were followed up at CMHC was 23 (3-37); PSSS score median of patients who were followed up at psychiatric outpatient clinics was 26.5 (2-38). EES score median of patients’ relatives who were followed up at CMHC was 18.5 (7-29); BDS score median of them was 11.5 (2-32). EES score median of patients’ relatives who were followed up at psychiatric outpatient clinics was 20 (11-32); and BDS score median of them was 10 (1-37). The result of the study indicates that there was a slight significant and negative correlation between PSSS and the sub-dimension of EES which was critism-hostile at CMHC group (r= -0,21; p<0,05). There was a slight significant negative correlation between PSSS and BDS at psychiatric outpatient clinic group (r= -0,31; p<0,05). According to results, it is suggested to construct psychoeducation programmes which lead to positive interactions among family members and emotion expression and to study advanced research on this topic at larger population.
