İlkokul Öğrencilerinin Teknoloji Kullanımı ile İlgili Ebeveyn Tutum ve Görüşleri
Özet
This study aims to determine the experiences and perceptions of parents of primary school students about their use of technology. With the research, it has been tried to reveal parents’ concerns about the negative situations children may encounter due to technology use, the relationship between the quality of children’s use case of technology and the time they spend with their parents, and the parents’ expectations from educators about the use of technology. This study carried out to determine the views and attitudes of the parents and has been designed according to the mixed method approach, exploratory sequential method. The participants of the study consist of the parents of 326 primary school students selected by the stratified purposive sampling method. After the quantitive data has been collected, interviews have been conducted with 24 teachers selected on a voluntary basis from the participant group. In the research, “Parentel Views on Children’s Technology Use” scale has been used as a quantitive data collection tool and a semi-structured interview form has been used as a qualitative data collection tool. The collected qualitative data have been analyzed by content analysis and quantitative data have been analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistical methods. In the research, it has been concluded that parents have concerns about their children’s internet use, they think that the internet has risks about their children’s moral development, they cannot properly guide their children in safe internet and technology use, and the method they use most to control their children’s internet or technology use is to set limits. In addition, it has been concluded that parents expect their children to be educated about the use of the internet and technological tools in school. In line with these results, suggestions for schools and parents were presented.
