Yeniden Anlamlandırma Ve Biçimlendirme
Özet
Since the 1990s, contemporary art, with its intensely technical production structure,
prefers a new method of existence through past art products and ready-made objects. This
new method allows art, the artist and the viewer to take place in a more social position.
In this thesis, in order to examine the existence of reproduction as a method of artistic
expression, in the first chapter, the relationship between culture and art is addressed; the
reflections of the domination of capitalist culture over the whole society, including the field
of art, are analyzed without taking sides (modernism/postmodernism). The analysis is
based on the thoughts of some prominent figures in the debates on art and culture.
Afterwards, the effects of the changing perceptual process from the modern period to the
postmodern period on artistic practices are included, and answers are sought to the
reasons for the existence of the act of reproduction as a basic structuring of contemporary
art.
When reproduction is used to create a work of art, of course, the biggest debate is over the
status of the quotation. In this respect, in the second part, opposing debates such as
imitation, copy, plagiarism are evaluated. At the same time, the concepts used to make
sense of and shape the works of reproduction and the reflections of the theoretical
structure on practice are examined through various artists and practical works.
