Yüzey Modifiyeli Rhizopus Arrhizus ve Şeker Pancarı Küspesinin Anyonik ve Katyonik Boyarmadde Biyosorpsiyonunda Kullanılabilirliğin Araştırılması
Özet
In this thesis study, biosorption of Remazol Black B (RBB), an anionic reactive dye
and Methylene Blue (MB), a cationic dye, onto Rhizopus arrhizus and dried sugar
beet pulp biosorbents prepared by only drying and by treating with cetyl
trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), a cationic surfactant, at different
concentrations, was investigated in a stirred batch system at 25°C.
For RBB adsorption, as the optimum pH values were determined as 2.0 by dried R.
arrhizus and dried sugar beet pulp biosorbents, it was observed that the optimum pH
value shifted to 8.0. when 20 g/l CTAB treated R. arrhizus and sugar beet pulp
biosorbents were used. It was obtained that the adsorption rate and capacity
increased to a certain value, and the adsorption efficiency decreased with increasing
initial RBB concentration for both dried R. arrhizus and dried sugar beet pulp
biosorbents at pH 2.0 and pH 8.0, and for both 20 g/l CTAB treated R. arrhizus and
sugar beet pulp biosorbents at pH 8.0. While the highest adsorption capacity for dried
R. arrhizus was determined as 435.0 mg/g at pH 2.0, and as 125.0 mg/g for 20 g/l
CTAB treated R. arrhizus at pH 8.0, these values were figured out as 45.5 mg/g for
dried sugar beet pulp at pH 2.0, and as 333.3 mg/g for the 20 g/l CTAB treated sugar
beet pulp at pH 8.0. As a result, it can be said that permanent cationic coating of the
biosorbent surface by CTAB surfactant shifted the working pH from 2.0 to 8.0 for both
biosorbents and it increased the dye adsorption rate and capacity of sugar beet pulp
much more significantly at pH 8.0.
