Kemik Doku Mühendisliğinde Melatonin-Β Siklodekstrin İnklüzyon Komplekslerinin Etkinliğinin Araştırılması
Abstract
The aim of the present study is to increase the low aqueous solubility of melatonin which has antiproliferative and anticancerogenic effects by forming inclusion complexes with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) molecules and to investigate the cytotoxic effects of melatonin releasing from the chitosan scaffold on human bone cancer cells. In accordance with this purpose, aqueous solubility of melatonin and the rate of inclusion complex formation were increased by melatonin/HPβCD inclusion complex formation via using microwave treatment. It was seen that melatonin, released from inclusion complex loaded chitosan scaffold, had apoptotic and antiproliferative effects on MG-63 with help of cytotoxicity studies. In conclusion, melatonin/HPβCD inclusion complex loaded chitosan scaffolds could be considered as an alternative system for the human osteosarcoma therapy.
