Mekan ve Fotoğraf İlişkisine Tasarım Süreci Bağlamında Bir Yaklaşım
Özet
The subject of this study is “photography art” and “space design” to understand the act of design and its nature. Space design and photography art are examined within the context of their relations in the design process. This study aims to construct a space design process with photographs as a trial. Literature reviews are the steps to specify the place and importance of photography in the spatial design process.
The similar structure between the space design process and photography art is examined by tackling the “visual character” of the space.
The first section investigates the relationship between photography and space design in the historical process. Intersections of space design with photography are presented through advancements within the historical process and prominent people.
The second section explains the similarities between space design and photography regarding perception. Visual perception, which is the common perception of both fields with related vision and visual communication, is investigated.
The third section is related to design concepts. Space design and photography are discussed in the common ground of creativity. Common concepts in the language of creativity are exemplified in both fields.
In the fourth section, the design process is classified corcerning the state of its inclusion in photography. Related photography types and created classes are considered together. Actions in the design process and their relations with photographs are investigated. These relations are examined through examples.
In conclusion, the impact of involving photographs in the space design process on design skills and the process is generally evaluated.
