In the study, it was aimed to evaluate the communication of health professionals serving in the emergency department from the perspective of the patients and to reveal the relationship with the emotions of the patients. The first stage of the research was carried out in a methodological manner and the Health Care Communication Questionnaire (HCCQ) scale was adapted to Turkish. In the second stage, which is a descriptive and relationship-seeking design, an answer was sought to the question of whether there is a relationship between emergency care patients' assessments on communication of healthcare staff and their emotions. Both stages of the study were carried out in an adult emergency room of a university hospital, 130 patients were reached in the first stage and 210 patients in the second stage. Data were collected with Patient Information Form 1 and HCCQ in the first stage, Patient Information Form 2, HCCQ (Turkish Form) and Visual Analog Scale in the second stage; evaluated with CFA, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Skewness-Kurtosis, split half method and item analysis in the first stage, with descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman Correlation Analysis in the second stage. As a result of the first phase of the study, the CFA fit indexes of the HCCQ showed an acceptable fit, the Cronbach alpha value was calculated as 0.83 for the total scale, and the scale was found to be valid and reliable. As a result of the second phase of the research, it was found that the participants evaluated the communication of health professionals at a very good level; anxiety and hostility scores were found to be quite low and positive emotion scores were moderate. There was no relationship between the participants' evaluations of the communication of health professionals and the emotions they experienced. It was suggested that the HCCQ should be used in the evaluation of the communication of health professionals and studies should be carried out to raise awareness about the nature of the emergency services and the impact of the communication of health professionals on patients.
