This study aims to identify the relationship between nurses’ suffering professional bereavement with the Professional quality of life and socio-demographic factors. The first stage, adapting the “Professional Bereavement Scale” into Turkish using a methodological pattern, was carried out. In the second stage, the correlation of professional bereavement with the professional quality of life and socio-demographic factors was investigated via correlational research design. At the first stage, “First Stage Socio-demographic Data Form1” and “Professional Bereavement Scale” were established were used. At the second stage, “Second Stage Socio-demographic Data Form2”, “Bereavement Scale for Health Care Professionals,” and “Professionals Quality of Life Scale” were used. The sample number of the first stage is 170 and the second stage is 176. The data of both stages were collected on the online platform. Validity and reliability analyses were carried out at the first stage of the research. While Pearson Correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation between continuous variables, multiple linear regression analysis was used to estimate the indicative aspect of Professional Bereavement on the Professional Quality of Life. Professionals Berevament Scale for Health Care was found valid and reliable, and while the acute effects of the participants’ Professional bereavement were towards average, the cumulative effects were identified as above average. While the acute reactions of bereavement were in a positive correlation with compassion satisfaction, burnout and compassion fatigue, cumulative changes that were experienced in the long term were in an average correlation in a positive way with occupational satisfaction and compassion fatigue. The regression analysis that was carried out suggests that professional bereavement is determinant on the Professional quality of life from the aspects of acute reactions and cumulative changes. Therefore, it is recommended to consider professional bereavement predictor of professional quality of life in nurses.
