The aim of this study is to reveal the role of groom (-ness) institution and identity in the construction of male identity in Turkish folk culture in Tekkeköy district of Samsun. In this direction, first of all, the understanding of marriage in the Turkish folk culture of the Tekkeköy district of Samsun was revealed, and the perceptual, behavioral, performance, belief and material aspects of the groom’s identity and folklore in completing the construction process of masculinity in the region were discussed. The study was evaluated within the framework of the data obtained as a result of the field research conducted in Tekkeköy district of Samsun. In the research, it has been concluded that the groom’s institution had a determining role in the completion of this construction in the construction of the masculinity identity in the Tekkeköy District of Samsun.
