Etkileşimli Dijital Enstalasyon Tasarımları ve Bir Uygulama
Özet
Interactive digital installations are new media objects located at the intersection of art, technology and design, focusing on experience in accordance with the communication expectations of the world we live in. In interactive designs, the interface assumes the function of being a dialogue layer between human and technology and when it comes to interactive digital installations, it gains a broader conceptual framework with more diverse application possibilities. Therefore, the aim of the thesis is to contribute to the development of new strategies and artistic expressions in interactive designs, to identify the problems and solutions by experiencing the interactive installation designing process. As a reflection of the knowledge acquired, an interactive digital installation was designed.
The study consists of three parts. In the first part, a historical review is made by following the traces of related technological developments and their implications in artistic practices to discover the roots of interactive digital installations. In the second part, mainly by examining notable artworks, researches have been carried out to focus on aesthetic, technical and conceptual dimensions in order to reveal the structure of this genre. In the final part, the interactive digital installation project titled “Time Traveler: Primordial Soup” is explained in detail and also the relationship between the designs and the scientific information are tried to be described.
For the realization of the application project, a mobile motion sensor was utilized and with the help of an outsourced software support, the installation design was transformed into an interactive experience.
