Abstract

In this thesis, after presenting general information about activity measurement and about efficiency factor which directly affects business performance, the detailed information about data envelopment analysis is given.Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a technique based on linear programming which aims to measure the relative efficiency of Decision Making Units (DMU) in the case of multiple input-output and in the case of input-output with different measurement units. In the application of DEA, the inclusion of input and output to the model is an important issue and plays a decisive role. In this thesis, when it is hard to decide the determination of inputs and outputs to be added to the model, the advantages of the inclusion of Principal Component Analysis that is one of multivariate analysis techniques, to the DEA process are presented on the efficiency analysis of insurance companies
