The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between rumination and metacognition with posttraumatic growth in parents of children with cancer. The study was carried out in Türk Kanser Derneği, Kanser Savaşçıları and Kanserle Dans Derneği’s social media platforms using online data forms. Data has been collected between 30 September 2020 and 25 December 2021, using the descriptive data forms, Event-Related Rumination Inventory, Metacognition-30 Scale, and Post-traumatic Growth Inventory. In the analysis of the data; correlation and regression analysis were used. According to the findings, there is a positive correlation between deliberate rumination and metacognition with posttraumatic growth, while there is a negative correlation between intrusive rumination and post-traumatic growth in parents of children with cancer. It was determined that deliberate rumination, intrusive rumination, and metacognition explain %30 of the posttraumatic growth in parents of children with cancer. In line with these results, it can be said that rumination and metacognition affect posttraumatic growth in parents of children with cancer. Therefore, approaches that increase the deliberate rumination level and decrease the intrusive ruminations can be suggested as soon as the diagnosis is made to increase the posttraumatic growth among parents of children with cancer.
