ʿÂşıkla Maʿşûk Dürbünü ve Her Milletin Güzeli Metninin Çeviri Yazısı ve Eser Üzerine Yapısalcı Bir İnceleme

‘Âşıkla Ma‘şûk Dürbünü ve Her Milletin Güzeli (1872) is one of the first printed narratives of Turkish literature of the Tanzimat period, published in five volumes and anonymously. This study determined that ‘Âşıkla Ma’şûk Dürbünü ve Her Milletin Güzeli belong to the printing house Viçen Tilkiyan, who has many copyrighted and translated works. The work was published as an Arabic script version of Dürbün-i ‘Aşk ve Mahbûbe-i Milel (1872), which Tilkiyan, an Ottoman Armenian, published in Turkish with Armenian letters in the same year. In mutual readings, it was understood that both works were exactly the same except for some word, letter and punctuation changes, and the difference in volume between them was due to the font size and page size. In the first written narratives, ‘Âşıkla Ma‘şûk Dürbünü ve Her Milletin Güzeli, in which the effects of oral culture are intense, have the feature of a synthesis work that stands between tradition and Western literary understanding with its frame setup, subject, person, time and place usage. Divided into thirty-one days and whose main subject is love, this works tells the stories of people representing the ethnoreligious groups of the Ottoman Empire. The frame narrative of the work includes eight internal narratives and nineteen short and long narratives intertwined in these narratives. In this study, the content and structural elements of ‘Âşıkla Ma‘şûk Dürbünü ve Her Milletin Güzeli, which are one of the basic steps in the formation phase of the modern Turkish story and novel, were examined. For this purpose, this study sheds light on one of the unknown sources of Turkish storytelling and emphasizes that reorganization of the history of Turkish literature is necessary by taking into account forgotten works.
