UÇAR, Muhammed. The Syrian-Palestinian Front According to Memories, Master Thesis, Ankara, 2022.
The Syrian-Palestinian Front became a field of struggle, as a result of which the Ottoman Empire was liquidated and the foundations of the modern Middle East were laid. Also, the Ottoman Empire suffered the greatest and devastating defeat in the First World War here, and eventually had to withdraw from the war by signing an armistice. Due to this importance, the commanders working at the front have published their memories of this front for various reasons and purposes. In this study, 18 memoirs of Mülazım-ı Evvel (First Lieutenant) and with commanders in the top ranks; evaluated by using external criticism, comparison and conjuncture analysis methods. Using Fernand Braudel's time classification, memoir writing was accepted as an event within the "short time" classification and its understanding was evaluated within a larger and more meaningful time period called “conjuncture”. The aim of the study is to shed light on the logistics problem and the dispatch-administration debates at the front through the analyzed memoirs. As a result of these evaluations, the logistics problem was described from the perspective of the military elite and its reasons were revealed. In addition, different ideas and narratives at the point of administration were compared. The narrative of the military elite cannot be explained using only military terminology, each commander as a person at the same time; It has been tried to show that he was under the influence of his cultural environment, traumas and currents of popular ideas, and that this effect spread to his works and management style.
