The main objective of this thesis is to examine tanks and their usage, which is an area that has remained in the background and has not received enough attention regarding the First World War. It is also aimed to highlight the importance of military technology activities, which were developed to remedy the stuck trench wars of World War I and which were the most important determinants of the war. In the thesis, tanks, which have a very controversial place in the History of World War I; the ideas of their emergence, their first production, the reasons for their success and failure on the fronts, how they are used and what advantages they provide will be discussed. In addition, it aims to show how the soldiers, senior command staff and the press reacted to these vehicles, how the military experts of the period evaluated these vehicles and what kinds of strategic methods they followed to use the new weapons. Thus, it will be understood more clearly why tanks were given more weight in the interwar period and that they are one of the most effective war vehicles twenty years later.
