Türk Ulusunun İnşası Sürecinde Romanın Rolü, 1923-1938
Abstract
This study aims to investigate and analyse the role of novels in Turkish nation-building process between 1923-1938. Theoritical background of the thesis applies to modernist nationalism theories and discusses Turkish experience as a case which nation is created by nationalism. As a result of this perspective, this study gives importance to instruments about nation-building process and discusses the novels that published between 1923-1938 with their contribution to this project. Characteristics of novel as a literary genre, its relation with modernism and politics, and intersection of its historical background with nationalism are main reasons about focus decision. Determination of nation s definition and distinctive features are critical aspects of nation-building.
