Abstract
Central Asia, whose history goes through the Silk Road, was the scene of fighting throughout history. The region on the one hand while holding trade relations between Eurasia and Pacific, on the other hand has established economic and trade relations between Asia and Europe. In this paper will be analyzed key issues in economic interaction between Russia and countries of Central Asia (including Afghanistan). They are: trade between Russia and Central Asia, commodity composition and dynamics of trade turnover for the last decade; Russian investments to the countries of the region; economic significance of labor migration from the countries of the region to Russia; economic policy and strategy of Russia regarding the relationships with the countries of the region; and some considerations on the impact of relations with Central Asia on economic development of Russia.
