| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study is to examine the effect of public transfer expenditures on economic growth in developing countries. For that purpose, a data set of 27 developing countries between the period 1990-2011 is used. This study differs from previous works by using dynamic panel method. In addition, decomposition of interest expenditures from transfer expenditures, considering endogenous variables and including revenue budget to the econometric model are other different attributes of this study. As a conclusion it is found that transfer expenditures have a long term positive and statistically significant effect on economic growth in developing countries. Another finding of this study indicates that the relation is statistically insignificant in short term. It is also observed that as income levels and the share of transfer expenditures in national income increase, positive and significant relationship on economic growth weakens. | tr_TR |

| dc.description.ozet | Bu çalışmanın amacı; gelişmekte olan ülkelerde kamu transfer harcamalarının iktisadi büyüme üzerine etkisini ampirik olarak incelemektir. Bu amaçla çalışmada, 27 gelişmekte olan ülke için 1990-2011 verileri uzun dönem etkilerinin gözlemlenebilmesi için 5 er yıllık ortalamaları alınarak panel veri analizi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Literatürdeki diğer çalışmalardan farklı olarak; dinamik panel veri yöntemi kullanılması, transfer harcamalarından faiz giderlerinin ayrıştırılmış olması, içsel nitelikteki değişkenlerin göz önüne alınması ve gelir bütçesinin ekonometrik modele dahil edilmesi çalışmanın özgün katkılarını oluşturmaktadır. Uygulama kısmında elde edilen sonuçlara göre gelişmekte olan ülkelerde; transfer harcamalarının iktisadi büyüme üzerinde uzun dönemli etkisi pozitif yönde ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunurken kısa dönemde ilişkinin anlamsız olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. | tr_TR |
