This study examined the predictive effect of dating violence attitudes and depression level on the demand-withdraw communication pattern. The research involves a total of two hundred ninety nine university students, one hundred and sixty nine female and one hundred and thirty two men, after exclusion, who are studying in various departments of Hacettepe University. Participants were required to have an ongoing or steady relationship that lasted at least three months. Thus, not having a romantic relationship was considered as an exclusion criterion. The students who participated in the study are selected through convenience sampling. The scales that are used in the study were applied collectively and in the classroom environment. Research data were collected using Demographic Information Form, Short Communication Pattern Scale, Flirting Violence Attitude Scale and Beck Depression Inventory. IBM SPSS-25 program was used in the statistical evaluation of the data. One-Way Analysis of Variances were run to assess whether the demand-withdrawal communication pattern, dating abuse and depression change according to demographic variables. Correlation analyses were used to evaluate whether there are significant relationships between these variables. Multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine the predictive effect of depression level and dating violence attitudes on the demand-withdraw communication pattern.
