ÇORAPÇI, Nergiz. As a Children’s Literature Writer Kemalettin Tuğcu: An Investigation into His Life, Art and Children Books, Master of Arts Thesis, Ankara, 2019.
This Master’s thesis intends to examine the life, art, literary character, works of Kemalettin Tuğcu and some of his novels not handled in other theses from the perspectives of selected themes, people, space and time. Being a witness to 20th century and having lived within a three-Sultan-term, he reflected his physical circumstance, family and the period and his social environment he lived in his masterpieces in an artful manner.He matched the characters in his works with themes such richness-poverty, loneliness, affection, mercy, hopelessness, solidarity, patience, frugality, education, modernity, nature, and animal love; he became one of the leading authors among children’s literature with his effective and fluent style, one generation grew up with what he wrote. Kemalettin Tuğcu’s books became one of the indispensable tools of the being who lived in the aforementioned term.
The aim of this thesis is to examine the children’s books of Kemalettin Tuğcu who addressed the needs of children’s reading with over 300 novels at a time when there was a scarcity of children’s books between 1970-1990 following Alphabet Reform and the secondary aim is to localize the place of him among Turkish child literature.
