The present work deals with the reception of the Turkish Orient. The investigation was carried out according to the New Historicism method based on Friedrich Dernburg’s travel report “Auf Deutscher Bahn in Kleinasien” (1892). An attempt was made to highlight the passages while critically examining the travel report in which the author depicts the picture of the Turk in relation to a person or the Turkish Orient as a whole, from his point of view. If possible, these text passages were commented on. Based on the investigation, a picture of the Turkish Orient in the 19th century could be shown, which has been handed down through the literature, here through the travel report, up to our century.
