Organosilan Bileşikleri Ile Modifiye Edilmiş Doğal Zeolitin Terpenlerin Dimerleşme Reaksiyonlarındaki Katalitik Aktivitesinin Araştırılması
Abstract
The increment of petroleum prices, and the decrease in fosil fuel resources resultedwith a rapid improvement of research and development studies for alternative fuelsources. For this concern, the first alternative fuel is biodiesel. In addition tobiodiesel, dimerization of terpene compounds derived from natural resources byusing polymer resins and clays and usage of the dimer products as fuel additives isanother alternative. Within the scope of this thesis, firstly the natural zeoliteClinoptilolite, which is widely found in our country, is modified with organosilanecompounds in order to obtain acidic active sites. Secondly, the catalysts developedin the first section of the thesis are used as catalysts for the dimerization reactionsof natural terpene compounds such as camphene, pinene and limonene and theiractivities and optimum reaction conditions are determined.
