Abstract
Controlled drug delivery systems have outstanding properties such as reducing the drug dose, prolongation of dosing interval and minimizing side effects while delivering the drug to the target area. Delivering of the drug via local implantation method is an important factor to reduce amount of dose and side effects in controlled drug delivery systems. Sensitive polymers to the desired molecule can be synthesized by molecular imprinting technology. The production of smart polymers which are the senstitive to the environmental conditions is increasing the interest in this method in the area of controlled drug delivery systems. One of biomaterials used in controlled release systems is cryogels. Cryogels are the gel matrices which are produced below the freezing temperature of the solvent. Unlike many polymers containing toxic organic compounds as porogen, it is ice crystals in cryogels.
