Abstract

Turkey’s economic, social, political and military fields has increased its international importance. Therefore, it has been a necessity to carry out academic studies on teaching Turkish for specific purposes for foreigners. For this purpose, theoretical information is given in the field of teaching of Turkish for specific purposes for foreigners and teaching of business Turkish according to other applications in the world. Firstly, history of language for specific purposes, its types, course design, syllabus types, methods and techniques, material design, vocabulary, measurement and evaluation of language teaching for specific purposes are given in the thesis. Afterwards, business language, types and characteristics of business Turkish, main communicative activity areas of business Turkish and related descriptors of language levels are defined. The target group of the study is foreign businessmen who will use Turkish in business life. Both in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and in teaching Turkish for specific purposes for foreigners, it is extremely important to determine what vocabulary will be taught and how to determine it. For this purpose, “Frequency Dictionary of the Written Turkish Word”, “Frequency Dictionary of Contemporary Turkish” and “A Frequency Dictionary of Turkish” were searched in terms of words related to general business field and business Turkish vocabulary was prepared for A1-A2 levels. It is expected that the theoretical knowledge and results provided by the study will contribute to the theoretical and practical studies for teaching Turkish for specific purposes for foreigners and business Turkish for foreigners.
