Abstract
Alcohol dependence is a chronic, relapsing biochemical disorder that has hetoregenous clinical and etiological features with genetic basis and have a variable course that is frequently characterized by periods of remission and relapse. Alcohol addict consumes alcohol to reduce his physical or psychological distress and finally consumption of alcohol reaches dimension that block patient s physical, mental, social, and economic life. Although alcohol has been consumed for thousands of years, alcohol related problems have been increasing in our country recently. As a result of new findings on the area of molecular genetics, there is growing interest on the genetic aspects of psychiatric disorders.
