Abstract
This research is planned for the adaptation of Children
Communication Checklist- Second Edition (CCC-2) developed by Bishop (2003) and
to determine the reliability and validity of the Checklist adapted into Turkish.
The study group for this research comprises of the famillies of 1015 tipic developed
children and 100 children with Otistic Spectrum Impairment between the ages of
four to fifteen years attending the schools and institution chosen among six
preschools, four elementary and four secondary schools part of National Education
Ministry, and special education and rehabilitation institutions in Çankaya and
Mamak region of the city of Ankara.
While adapting the test, international test adapting principles were carried out. The
entire sample group was included in the study of validity and reliability of the test.
Reliability analyzing methods were administered and the values have been found
relatively high. In the study of validity, it was proved that the test can distinguish the
groups that demonstrate normal development and that have Pragmatic Language
Impairment. The results of factor analysis indicate that the construct validity of the
test is provided.
The results of the study showed that the test is convenient for Turkish language and
culture, with its high reliability and sufficient validity. The test is ready to be used for
screening the communication skills of Turkish children.
